The piston should travel freely on the mag tube and the piston ring should enter the gas collar with only slight resistance.
The piston can, with use, be deformed at its base and may bind slightly on the magazine tube. You may need to have the internal diameter of the piston relieved to counter this.
If the piston ring fits too tightly into the gas collar, you may experience incomplete lockup and failure to fire. While this is not the described problem, it is good to be aware of the possibility.
You do have a five year warranty on this shotgun.
