A close friend of mine just had this handed down to his son (he's only 3) from his wife's great grandfather so this will be his sons great great grandfather. I'm guessing he bought this new and from what he was told has only shoot a box or two. The bluing is so good it almost looks to be redone. Bore and rifling other then dust looks mint and sharp. Only thing I am not certain of is there are two screw holes on the tang that look to be for a tang sight, not sure if that is original. Also it is driller and tapped on top of the receiver but only the back two screws.

Not that it is for sale but for curiosity what value would you put on this?

Serial starts: 302###

The screw holes in the tang are original, the ones in the top of the reciever frame are not.

The receiver holes may very well be factory. I've seen a number of 1893s that were factory d&t for the Hepburn sight:

Are you sure it's not a 38-55?

Just double checked 30-30 100%

That is what she looks like! Gave her a good cleaning and I have no doubt that it is all original and in shape. Not even any brass marks on the bolt face. Man does she feel sweet, wish it was in my cabinet!

Not even close.

Care to elaborate? The fit and finish is first rate (hot salt blued and given a fine high gloss finish), the action is smooth and the walnut is beautiful. Furthermore, they haven't cheaped out and used plastic forend caps or butt plates. The actions have also been updated slightly with modern style springs and safety features.
