this is awesome, i had no idea so many people were shot at with rock salt loads. 
when i was younger we stole pumpkins and apples and things from farmers fields, but the only thing we had to worry about was getting their meanass farm dogs sicced on us.... ah, the memories of diving over farm fences to get away from dogs snapping at your heels
ive visited that site a few times. IMO sometimes his testing methods seem a little hokey.
im sure with a proper shot cup and some driveway salt it would be effective enough. the goal isnt to blow the kids away, im sure even a couple small fragments of a rock making their way under their skin would be enough to cause one hell of a sting
