Nice police badge collection. Where can I start a collection like that. Is there a store?

Its a mix of various sources. It is strictly a Toronto Police collection. Currently I have all of the modern badges including the current issue. I am currently working on the original pre-metropolitan toronto city badges, they are rare. I also have a patch to match each badge.

Old Toronto Police

- These are the originals from when the Toronto police was formed (basically old downtown toronto). There are also derivatives that are not trully Toronto police badges but are relevant. For example I have Toronto Sheriff badges which were not part of the police service but had similar functions. I have old mounted unit badges that were specific to that unit as horses were obviously used quite a bit back in the day. I also have other derivatives for example the Township of Toronto, which is actually the old name of Mississauga which was originally developed as a sub-urb of Toronto until it became its own township.

Original Towns/Boroughs

- These are the rarest of the badges, as the majority of them were rounded up and destroyed when they converted to the Metropolitan Toronto Police Service in the 50's. This would consist of Scarborough Police, Leaside Police, York Police, Downsview Police, North York Police, etc. I believe there is 13 in total. So far the only ones I have is North York Police and I have a constable and detective versions. I intend to use the second north york badge to trade with someone with a duplicate of one of the others. I actually found these on eBay.

Metropolitan Police

- With the establishment of the Metro Police there are a few different types of badges. I have the regular issue (blue and red) which was the later version and I have that in Sargeant and Constable. Prior to the red/blue badges there were silver ones and I also have a constable and detective version. Then there is the derivatives such as the auxillary badges and court officer badges which I have. I got these through auctions.

Current Issue Badges

- These are also super rare and can be illegal to possess if used for the wrong purpose (impersonation). I have a current issue badge for constable and I also have an Honourary badge which I recieved from the service through some work I have done with them. Then I have a few iterations of current issue retirement badges which I have recieved through friends that retired from the service. Currently for the most part you can only obtain these if you have friends on or previously on the service, as they will not permit them to be traded online on ebay or at auctions as they are current issue.

I will take a better picture when I get home. I have a few other's such as OPP badges, RCMP badges, and a few international ones recieved through work I have done with respective agencies, but they will primarily be used as traders for toronto acquisitions. From what I understand, I have one of the most complete collections, in fact I have more specimens then the Toronto police museum themselves. Rumour is there is only one complete collection of pre-amalgamation badges, but who knows where they have gone if in fact the owner is still even alive. Its an expensive pursuit so you need to be committed. Sought after badges can go for a few hundred. I have been offered $5000 for my current issue badge but obviously I have no intent or desire to sell those for obvious reasons.
