Have you always wanted an MP5K-ish gun?- Introducing the Lusa 9mm Restricted!

So, the above pics show a small mod I did to my Lusa. I used one of the "diamond cutting bits" for my Dremel (once already marked off) to cut a notch into the receiver. The bolt hold-back feature works like a charm and no more pinching my fingers between the bolt handle and the front sight! I tested with some snap-caps before putting everything together and testing at the range. Range trials went on without any issue with WASP 124gr ammo (a bit underpowered) and the gun was run without lube. Only issue is having ONE 5rnd mag!
The MP5 stock is an airsoft model from an online store in TO ($35). It took an evening of sanding and fitting but it is tight and great to shoulder!
As for the pics of the bolt face, this was for those with issues with extraction. Hopefully the pics are clear enough to compare with your bolts... Like mentioned before, mine runs like a sewing machine! Not one stoppage yet, about 150 rounds fired (out of ONE 5rnd mag!! ) yes, a bit annoying!
Good shooting guys!
Touch, thanks for the help with the pics!!

My engineering skills are sub-par , but can someone explain how cutting that notch makes it lock back on the last round?

My understanding is when the gun fires, it blows back, picks up a new round, bolt goes forward after it hits the end/spring pushes it.

But, what has changed on the last round? It's still, gun fire > gun picks up NO new round (empty) > bolt is pushed backard, hits the end / spring pushes it back forward.

I get that the notch (assumption) locks the charging handle/bolt in place - but regardless if the magazine is empty/full - how does that change the effect of how it works?

My wording may be terrible on this...I'm just trying to "get it"!

Edit: I think maybe I misundersoot. I thought that it locked back on empty. Is this just a notch to manually lock the bolt back?

Well i've tried to get ahead of Nightscout at 2 different numbers to no avail at this time (the Lusa guy said Nightscout should stand behind its work as Nightscout assembled these guns for Lusa, I know weird story..) . Im still hoping we can find a way to talk to these guys so any defective guns can go back to them for repair and not just us swapping new parts in the hope it will fix the issue.

Mags - Follower has just been mailed to the Canadian 3D printing company and once they get it hopefully they can start production of the followers so we can get these mags done

Doc,
I might've used the wrong term, but essentially the notch just keeps the bolt back. Not after the last round is fired, that would require a different follower in the magazine. The notch just keeps the bolt open for ease of chamber inspection, loading, knowing the state of the weapon. Hope this helps.

Makes sense, thanks! Although the mp5 "pimp slap" now raises a new question for me...

If it doesn't lock back after last round fired - isn't it MORE movements to, lock the action open, replace magazine, "pimp slap" it closed? Rather than, replace magazine, rack the cocking handle?

(Unless of course, the pimp slap is just for show, which i'm thinking may be the case?)

This non restricted conversion is starting to come together. Looks a lot better with the stock and if we could fit a G3 front handguard it would look way better.. plus black barrel and FH..

Thoughts?

Steve

does that mean that you will be getting more of the firearms in stock that will be converted for NR sales or just the barrel themselves

I like it. I did mention the G3 handguard before. Leapers has a metal version too.

I want to know if touch157 is cutting the mag well down. That line doesn't suggest Uzi.

Hmmmm....

Shave the sights, and have the handguard actually slide over the top of the receiver, acting like an extension. The sights could be mounted to the entire section.

Mainly to keep the bolt open to show clear. For me "pimp slapping" for show is useless since I'm usually alone at the range!

Steve,
Ideas with the NR barrel are looking good! A barrel shroud with hand guard like the MP5SD... Food for thought.
