Alright, minor "range report" for this beast. Finally had some time to get out to the range, Heres the good, bad and - well, we already know the Lusa is ugly
I put about 75 rounds of Blaser through it. I still only have the 1 mag - so it was a pain stopping to load after every 5 rounds.
I'll just bluntly put it -
this gun is a tonne of fun to shoot. It's hard to explain WHY it is fun to shoot though. The sights are nothing to glamour over, and truth be told they are hard to pick up quickly. This may change one I get a stock put on it however. The trigger? Also nothing special. Its short, resets quickly but I found it kind of mushy.
So what makes it so fun? Well, the cocking handle is just very satisfying first of all, no it doesn't have the "Mp5 slap" - but thats okay. Racking it back and letting go is plain and simple fun. Rapid shoot (albeit 5 rounds...) is also fun. I found the gun to be quite accurate, follow up shots were easily placed as well.
Now, to move onto the bad. I'll firstly say I am not an expert - so i'm having trouble determining what the exact issue is - i'm hoping someone can fill me in or point me in the right direction.
The one magazine I have, doesnt seat and lock in properly - MOST of the time. Load the magazine up, push the magazine in, tap the bottom for good luck - And I can still pull it out with ease. At the range, it did this 90% of the time. The only way I was able to get it to seat and lock in - was holding the cocking handle back so the bolt was open, insert magazine, then release the bolt. That worked MOST of the time. Sometimes I had to do it two or three times.
After I finally got it to seat and fire the first magazine - I took a look at the magazine and found this...
Something is wrong here. It made a perfectly vertical groove down the side of the magazine. Not a damn clue as to why. Is it the magazine? Is it the magwell or gun? I have no idea.
After doing the "open bolt, insert mag, release bolt" through a box and a half of ammo - I decided to pack up and go home. Once home I reinstered the magazine (bolt closed) a good 50 or so times, and for the most part it now seems to lock in. It seems quite finicky on how I do it though - slam it in with my palm, no go. Use my hands to grip around in, lightly pull it up and usually will click in.
I have 2 more magazines that will be here soon, i'm curious to see if they will fit well or also leave a big indent down the side.
Well, small conclusion? I love this damn gun. Despite me having issues, I have no intention to ever sell it. It's too much fun. If I can figure out what the hecks happening, i'll be a lot happier though.
