It had no forward/rearward movement, only slight up/down movement, cured with the washer as shown in my photo. I assume forward/rearward movement could also be cured by a layer or two of aluminum tape, or perhaps a folded piece of beer can tin, as shown here:

I've had good luck using a piece or two of leather to tighten up the forward/rearward movement.

Westrifle has Tapco stocks if anyone needs one.

That's a good point regarding leather. I used a thin cut to firm up the handguard to ferrule fitment.
