That you pull the final shot and ruin the best group you've ever shot?

yup, ruined best groups, dropped the 25th bird on a perfect round of trap, dropped the 100th bird in handicap

done it all

concentration and lack of it are a big part of shooting, and teach rude lessons from time to time!

That's no fun when that happens, I shot an almost identical group at 300m on the weekend...four rounds into .335 then opened to an inch and and quarter with the fifth, was a second past when I should have taken another breath and refocused. Good shooting though, what rifle/combo are you using?

That last shot can be tuff. It's the Bench Rest shooter's bane. Your 2 oz trigger seems to become much heavier for that shot.

You're better off having the bullets impact somewhere else on the target out of the view of your scope. It was probably the big grin on your face that changed the cheek pressure on the stock causing that flyer.

Wow, I can only hope to someday be able to shoot like that! This was basically the same thing. I got cocky and rushed the last shot. It's a remington 700 sps tactical in .223. For glass I'm running a bushnell elite 3200, with el cheapo rings and base, and I dropped the whole thing in an HS precision varminter stock. I'm shooting off a champion bi pod and a rear bag.

I've done the opposite. On Occasion.
My 1st shot is smack dab in the centre of the X (20 yards, handgun .22 one-handed)
and that is when I should have stopped and called it a perfect shoot. 100% in the X.

I find that getting older is an advantage in shooting, the little lost of reflexes just make me focus harder, got a lot less flyers in the last 2 years... JP.
