Have you ever found a gun? I don't mean at a gunshow or auction. I mean out in the bush. I saw a beauty once, found on northern Vancouver Island. It was a nice Tikka M65 30-06. Found leaning up against a tree. The bore must have had a good coat of oil in it because it was fine...and the wood was dull but looked great after a fresh coat of oil...but from the rust pitting around the action it had to have been there for awhile, a few years anyway...advertised for an owner but never found one...so it was sold at a gun show.

I found a few knives, never a gun.....sometimes stuck in a tree (usually fixed blades) and folders that obviously were caught on tree branches and lifted from previous owners pockets.

Never been lucky enough to find a gun, but I remember one time hiking into this brutal old growth patch that seemed to be untouched.
I doubted anybody had ever been there before (at least not in my lifetime), I climbed to the top of a rock bluff and as I put my pack down I noticed an single very tarnished unfired cartridge on the ground, it looked old and was stamped 300 Savage "super speed".

Felt kinda cool to know that somebody had been in that exact spot many moons ago.

Years ago me and my brother were walking with a buddy down a gravel/sand beach in northern Manitoba on Cormorant Lake...Our buddy notices a half buried piece of stove pipe...He walks over and lifts it out of the sand and tips it over...Out falls a Browning .22 lever action, grade II no less...It had to have been there for sometime the way it was half buried...Thing was in working order with a bit of surface rust...No clue how it got there but stranger things have happened in that neck of the woods...Wonder if he still has it?

A coworker of mine used to scout out the old prospector sites and camps and found quite a few old winchesters over the years.

I found an old rusty cooey in a sand pit when I was a teenager.

The best story I read was an article about an old lever rifle found propped up against a tree in the desert down in the states somewhere. It had been there so long that the wood had petrified in the sun / heat.

It would be great if there were some pictures of these finds lol. I allways enjoyed seeing pictures of rifles that were found after years.

No, but I found a military-issue, unpinned (of course) 30-round C7 mag. I eventually threw it out as I was worried about owning an illegal item!
It was full of military issue blank rounds. Near CFB Meaford.

I found a couple one day.
Yup, me and pah's.
He lent his up against the front bumper and I put mine beside his.
Had lunch on the tailgate and then came home.
He tawt I put the guns inside and I tawt he did.
Guess whom gartzs hizz arse kicked?

Lernt a bigg'un lesson that day.
Now I lay them awn the hood..........fruck the paint.

Good thing we backed up from the lunch spot.

We found two on our farm growing up, a Remington rolling block, and a Cooey single shot .22. The Cooey had a broken stock and had been there awhile, but not as long as the rolling block, all its wood had rotted away and the barrel was bent. Somewhere in my stuff, likely the barn, still have it made a stock for it though it'll never shoot. A family friend who was a silversmith and had a bluing tank cleaned it up and blued it for me. Used to hang on my wall as a kid, I'd like to have it back up on the wall and should dig for it. Thanks for making me think of it.

Yup.

Haha. I bet that cost thousands in man hours searching for it. Only apparently it was never found.

Back in my militia days I was on ex in the States and found 3 M16s, including one with a M203 attached! They were all propped up back in the bush where we laagered. 'Mericans must have left them behind when they bugged out!

The MPs got down there pretty fast after I told my Troop Warrant...
