I am fairly new to reloading and have come across this situation:

Same bullets: Speer TMJ RN , 9mm, 124gr
Mixed cases, it does seem to be consistent with two manufacturers.

Do you know what caused the nose deformation? (first question that came to mind: Are they safe to shoot?)
Oh, forgot to mention. The middle round has a perfect bullet.

Thank you.

Did you confirm they weren't like that before seating?
If they were deformed during seating, it could be a very soft lead combined with very thin plating with a seating stem not the proper shape for the bullet nose encountering higher resistance during seating in certain cases (too hard, thicker and thus smaller ID when the OD is sized, an odd internal taper, or various things).

Assuming only the nose is deformed, they would be perfectly safe to shoot but I wouldn't recommend them for top accuracy.

Yes, they all come from the same box and were checked before seating.

Mixed cases but they were all reloaded at the same time.

Amazingly enough, they all retained a 0.355" diameter.

Nothing cheap about anything there but the one in the middle ain't like the other two. Pull them and weigh them, all will be revealed.

They were not cheap. They were not mixed.

I will be busy tonight measuring 150 rounds.

Jeezus, really? Nothing better to spend your life on?

Mastrubate or something. It'll feel better and accomplish more. Take the ammo to the range. Shoot it.

If you really feel the need, weigh the three cartridges and see if they come out within a couple grains. They may not have been inexpensive, but they ARE cheap!

Cheers

Did you flare the case mouths slightly before seating the bullet, you may have squat the bullet trying to push it into a straight case mouth. Were some harder to seat?
