Haven't renewed my gun range membership, so...

I have a long term ATT for a restricted I already own, which I bought when I was still a member of a range just outside of Edmonton. So does this mean there is a chance I could still buy another restricted since the CFO knows I have the long term ATT?
it is possible that you can buy another gun but they may hold up the transfer until you produce a active membership at a club
you never know until you try it

I am reviving this thread,.. please only Alberta residents respond.

When did they start requiring a range membership to renew an Alberta LTATT? My current one that expires in 6months states

To and from all approved ranges in AB, to licensed gunsmiths and AB border crossing
Holder must be a member in good standing of an approved range, OR guest of a member.

It says no where on my current LTATT that I need to be a member of a range to renew. The woman at the CFO said I did, I said no I needed a membership to buy my first restircted,.. and then she agreed but said I needed one to renew and it's been like this since 1998.

I tried to get sections on the code stating this information but she couldn't do it and won't renew my LTATT,.. am I missing something

It isn't in any of the legislation, it is "policy" just like requiring a range membership for the initial restricted transfer and LTATT. If you want to be a PITA to them, request a refusal in writing and then file for a Section 72 hearing.

In BC it is my understanding that if your club membership expires, your long tern ATT is invalid. This was mentioned at a recent club meeting by one of our CFSC instructors.

The reason I ask this is because I know I need a range membership to renew my Rpal, now why should I buy a range membership now, then have to buy another one next year when I can just drop in locally when I have time or be a guest of a member. I must be a criminal now because I have no range membersip,...

Anyone know of cheap memberships in Alberta?

Also forgot, the woman I talked to said she was on the job 4 months and was referring to her "manual" to make her decisions.

I am just trying to figure out are people just making up these regulations now, just "because" the CFO thinks I need a membership doesn't mean I do,..

Hi Jasontheterrible,

I think that Phoenix Range in Edmonton and The Shooters Edge in Calgary both offer "associate memberships" at a reduced price.
