I'm having a problem with my SMLE. The Retaining spring screw has sheared right in the middle so that there is a piece of the screw in the one side of the sear another IN the sear and another on the other side of the sear.

My question is...What should I do? It seems like a pretty easy problem to solve so should I buy a new screw, try to take out the old one and replace it myself? or should I just bring it to a gunsmith? If I bring it to a smith how much will it set me back?

I think I'll replace the swivel spring from the front band while I'm at it, the same questions apply

thanks alot

Buy a broken screw extractor or very carefully drill it out. A hand drill isn't accurate enough, so if you don't have or have access to a drill press and vise, take it to a smithy. I'd find the replacement screws first.

FIXED.....for now

Well with the help os SignGuy the problem has been temporarily fixed.:D

The screw we used to replace the old one is not a perfect fit but it will do untill I get another from Jason(which I'll install myself). the_big_mike, SignGuy, and I went to the range today and she fired great.

Thanks for the comments gentlemen
