Well I thought I had made up my mind last week on getting the XCR-M... But the more I read about it the MORE problems I seem to find and it disappoints me. Some one give me some good information lol. Really wish the Tavor had a 308. model

I've heard lots of negative about the XCR-L, but very little about the M. In my personal experience with my XCR-L I've had no issues apart from a faulty bolt catch, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a non-restricted semi.

When I picked mine up ( XCR-M ) it had problems out of the box. It didn't take long for me to figure out that this was caused by the crappy factory steel mag. I switched to pmags and my problems went away for me. Several hundred rounds later and still no issues.

There are few with problems, there are going to be problems with any item made. Obviously you are going to find people posting about problems they have on the internet because that's where they go to get help and let people know. For every problem you find there are probably 1000's of them that are perfect. I have an XCR-L and it has been flawless with every type of ammo I've tried, and it is pretty accurate also. I would recommend them and would buy one again without question. People just love bashing this platform because it hasn't "been used in war", which doesn't make it any less of a gun. Most guns produced aren't used in battle, and chances are you will never be in the scenario where you go to battle with it.
Totally agree...Robinson Armament has always had issues. Some seem to run fine, I guess. I haven't seen any Ms with more than a few hundred rounds through them, which IMO isn't enough to know if it runs properly or not. I have seen a few XCR-Ls with low-thousands round counts. Of those, a relatively high fraction didn't run.
I would take a 542 over two XCRs any day, personally. At least the design has a solid track record.

Who in this thread that actually owns an XCR is telling people to stay away from them? Who in this thread has never owned an XCR but has seen one at the range is telling people not to buy one?

This. The factory mag is garbage, with .308 Pmags I have run hundreds of trouble free rounds and it is an excellent rifle. I choose to shoot mine as a bench style set up as its a little heavy and long for bush carry.

Well why not see if someone in your area has one you can shoot? Then make your choice from there. I'd let you shoot mine but your a bit of a drive away.
Buying an XCR-M now means you can play now. The SG542 isn't in stock yet to the best of my knowledge so you'd have to wait for one.

Who has been the guy trying to help people get theirs running after a little spring clip evaporated mid-shoot? Who has watched parts break on XCRs mid-course with relatively low round counts? Who has repeatedly had XCRs on their bench trying to resolve issues?
I know this one mechanic who has owned about 10 different cars and trucks over the course of his lifetime. Should I take him a vehicle that isn't one he bought?

Owner opinions are A data point. They aren't necessarily informed, useful, or even accurate.
I have an XCR-m myself I recommend getting rid of the ASC mags it comes with and to stay away from those chopped 5 rnd mags they are terrible I modified mine which did make them operate better but overall i ordered DPMS mags to fix the problem overall of misfeeds and double feed and general nonsense of the Asc mags
Rob Arms and their XCR platform is one of the hardest things to get accurate information on. I find it almost impossible to say get a xcr and it will be like "this" due to the fact that rob arms has a known quality control past that no one can deny. There are lots of haters and there are also lots of guys who want their 2k+ rifle to preform so badly their willing to over look the problems and call 50% of shots fired "flyers". The haters hate for different reasons. Some simply dislike the weight, the owner, the design, accuracy not up to expectations etc etc. Others bash the xcr for not being adopted by a NATO military and for the same reasons why guys online bash things in general, because they can...... My XCR-M is not the savior to the firearms world. It is not the best of both the AK and the AR. It is not a sub MOA alllll day long rifle. What it is, is a fun non restricted 7.62 rifle that I use alot. I dont waste Ammo shooting 100m groups all the time as federal gold match 168 smk gets pricey. But the first 100 rounds after barrel break in I did gather data in relation to accuracy at the 100m line. Groups are just that "data" they are not a reflection of your manhood, honor or whatever. Tampering with or being selective in data gathering isnt helping you out, neither is using a minimal sample size. I figured 100 rounds is a okay sample size based on budget. What I did is shoot 20 groups of 5 rds each, I then superimposed 2 back to back groups to make one 10rd group for a total of 10 groups in this way. Next I broke down what % of shots landed in what MOA rounded to the nearest .25 MOA. 100% of all shots fired landed in a 2.25 MOA group 90% landed in a 1.25 MOA group, 81% landed in a 1.00 MOA group and just 54% landed between .75 and 1 MOA. Yes I counted each and every shot. If you have rose colored glasses you could call 46 percent of this data "fylers", not doing "my part" "pulled the shot that I called" or whatever just to say you have a sub MOA rifle. My conclusion is this is a 1.25 to 1.5 moa rifle when fired from the prone with bipod/rear bag wearing a S&B 3-20 in a cadex mount. Sub MOA groups do occur but not often enough to be considered the norm. Had issues with factory mags fixed with p mags. 3 things that are not stock on my rifle is the XLR extreme stock with a dlask adapter, a rubber O ring that goes around the front pin to take up the upper to lower slack.(an old AR trick) and a ergo in place of the A2 grip. In short I love my rifle I consider it to be accurate and dependable, but I also believe the stories I hear of the problems and attribute this to a small company struggling to be consistent with quality control. Im happy so far but also kinda holding my breath, if that makes any sense...to be fair the good does out weigh the bad and good news does not travel as far or as fast as bad news. And when something does go wrong due to the price tag of this rifle people get more bent out shape than say if your $600 rem sps tactical rifle gives you grief. Get as much info as you can, try one out and draw your own conclusions. You may be a Happy owner like me

RobertBarrie, excellent write up, we need more honest posts like that. I think far too many people buy a rifle like the XCR-M or the RFB and think that just because it has a $2500 pricetag that it should shoot sub MOA all day long and never have a single failure. Then when they get one and it doesn't perform to their expectations they come on here and bash it.
The XCR was designed as a battle rifle, not a sniper or DMR type rifle so 1-3 MOA depending on ammo used is very reasonable, funny how people complain about accuracy then you find out they were feeding it bulk surplus.
It is just like other semi auto's and is reliable when maintained but if you neglect it you will start to have failures.
Rob Arms did use a few too many threaded fasteners in the design which is where most of the quality complaints I hear come from but there is nothing wrong with having to strip your new rifle and use a drop of locktite on fasteners when you put it back together. It should be stripped and cleaned anyway when new and it also helps you get to know your rifle.
$2500 really isn't that much money for a rifle like this and doesn't mean that it should be sub MOA. There are plenty of rifles out there that cost a lot more than an XCR that shoot a lot bigger groups.
People get unrealistic expectations these days and seem to be looking for an excuse to bash new products.
The XCR's I've shot have all be solid rifles and very reliable, accuracy is not up to that of an AR but by now everyone should know that and know to steer clear if that bothers you.
OP, the XCR is a good platform that gives decent accuracy and is reliable, if you get one with issues the warranty is good and you will be taken care of. It is a muzzle heavy rifle but nothing more than most other gas operated semi auto rifles with an 18.5 inch barrel.
Best advice is that before you buy one find one in stock somewhere and hold it. Have a good look and decide for yourself once you feel the weight and see the fit and finish.
