Having trouble mounting a scope on a Remington 597

OK so the wife surprised me with a scope for my 597.

Scope says .22 blah blah blah its the 50.00 Canadian tire center point .... it came with rings stating fits a standard dovetail. The 597 says it has a standard dovetail. When I tighten up the ring mounts on the dovetail it feels secure but doesn't quite look right...it looks like the radius in the dovetail mount should match up with the actual dovetail but instead there is a gap between them and the screw to tighten it down does not tighten the segmented piece of the mount all the way back to where it completely touches the stationary side.

I will try and put up some pictures tomorrow...

Does anyone have a picture of the way it is supposed to look? Ideally pictures of the mounts from the same direction as if looking down the glass.

No, that's fine. Give it a try and see if you can get it zero'd.

I installed a mount on mine. i'm not positive but I was under the impression that the "mount" that is integral to the receiver was just the to center a bigger mount... I installed another mount and a set of see through rings on my with a tasco 3-9. looks great and works flawlessly.

I had to mount it rolled over 90 degrees so the windage knob and the elevation knob switched spots so when I work the action my hand won't hit the knob..
