Ok im having trouble with my dillon SD. The handle has become stiff and hard when pulling down and up its not moving freely as it did befor. The press still works but seem like some thing squeezing has anyone hd this happen to them

before or after the shell plate starts to turn?

might be time to remove the shell plate and clean/lubricate underneath it.....

I get something similar sometimes with my Lee Turret Press. The cause is always a fired primer somehow working its way in between the press ram and frame. The solution, unfortunately, is force. I lower the handle with as much force as it takes, and it crushes the primer, drags it through and it falls clear.

I am not familiar with the square deal, I don't know if this is a possible scenario or not. But if you try the brute force solution, be sure to disconnect any and every function that is powered by the stroke of the handle, such as primer feeds, powder drops, indexing etc.

its stiff right from the start as soon as you push down and stays stiff all the way back up

clean out under the shell plate.....could be a primer stuck under there or just a build up of gunk

Hey JB,
I've had this happen.
A primer fell down into the body of the press and came to rest where the white plastic guides are.
I took the press apart to see if one of the four white guides was broken.
That's when I found the primer.
Take your press off the bench and pull the inner working out of the press.
See what's stuck in there.
Put a little grease on the four white plastic beams.
That should fix it.
