A sharpshinned hawk just killed a flicker in my front yard. A few weeks ago, it took a dove in the backyard. Really interesting to see!
 
No photos. When it was eating the dove, I was able to get a really good look at it and made the ID with our bird books. It was the blue jays complaining just now that alerted me that there was something going on.
Really trim, attractive small hawk. Swooped over me once when I was doing yardwork, so it must live closeby.
 
We have a Sharp that nests in our camp yard every year, very noisy when nesting but interesting to watch. We have found chicks on ground below nesting tree that were pushed, blown out or fell to their death?
