If you would care to look at what I am referring to (the lines in bold) you will see what I disagree with in regards to the sinkings of the Cap Artona and the Thielbek.
 
That plan worked well...the US had the technological advantage and built thousands of precision nukes, while the knuckle dragging Soviets just went with the go big or go home theory and built thousands of massive continent levelling nukes.
I am not aware of the degree to which this held the Soviet weapon program back. Probably a bit of a stretch to think it was more than a temporary inconvenience to them. Propaganda or history?

We've strayed quite a bit from the original post - Typhoons strafing POWs after hitting their ships with rockets.

Sh!t happens in war and there are no "innocents". Innocence is the first casualty of war, closely followed by "truth", and history is written by the victors.
