I am very concerned about laws of any jurisdiction I might be in, but it's simply beyond the intended scope of this thread.
In the event of an intruder; fleeing out the other end of the house would be my first choice. Barricade and bunker down would be second. I have no desire for any unnecessary sweeping and clearing. However, the children are at the other end of the house with an entry point between us, so tactical traveling around the house would be necessary before fleeing. Hopefully this could be done without encountering the intruder.
What advantage do you see with the 18 causing you to prefer that, if the spread pattern isn't different?
I get that a single 22 shot won't do much damage, but I assume it would be rather convincing. The value I saw was in the controllability and the ability to have 50 round drums.
