Look at the Vortex spotters. forthebirdsnatureshop.ca has them at a decent price. I got the Nomad 20-60x60 for just under $400 shipped and tax inc. They also carry a compact model: Vortex Impact 70mm, 25-75x Zoom Spotting Scope for $194 plus tax and shipping.

Eyepiece Magnification 25 - 75x Zoom
Objective Lens Diameter 70 mm
Eye Relief 18 - 15 mm
Linear Field of View at 1000 Yards 89 ft @ 25x / 47 ft @ 75x
Angular Field of View 1.7 - 0.9 Degrees
Close Focus 33 Feet
Length 10.2 Inches
Weight 29.3 Ounces

The Nomad is very clear edge to edge with no noticeable distortion.

They do have the more expensive ED (HD) glass as well if thats your thing. If I were using the scope for taking pictures with then I would probably opt for the ED glass but if your using it for spotting in the bush or at the range the ED isn't going to make that much of a difference.
