hdy 165 SP .308 with W760 need cross reference

I found on line the Hodgens website. It lists hdy 165 SP .308 cal and load measurements with the W760. The Hornady edition 8 does not list the W760 with the 165g SP. Looking for a cross reference. I"m asking anyone that has information on a cross reference to share it with me before I load this batch.

Might be in a Lee manual??
 
My old Hornady 3rd Edition lists W760 with the 165 gr Sp. 43.8 grs (2300 fps) as a start up to 50.3 grs as a Max (2600 fps).

Speer # 11 shows 49 grs to 53 grs.

Lyman 47th shows 45.3 to 51.5

The Hornady Manual, of course, is referring to the 165 gr Hornady soft point.
The Speer manual is referring to the Speer line of 165 gr bullets. They have a round nose, a boat tail spitzer, a flat base spitzer and their Grand Slam - all in 165 grs.
The Lyman Manual doesn't refer to any one make of bullet - just the 165 gr weight.

I believe that for hunting purposes it doesn't really matter what make or style of bullet you use with a particular load of powder. If you want to get into pure accuracy - then it could make a difference.

Are sure that they're the same?

The Hodgdon manual gives the same Max powder charges for both W760 and H414 with the 165 gr bullet (49 grs) but the Speer manual suggests 1 gr less of the H414 vs the W760 ie 53 grs Max for W760 and 52 grs Max for H414.
The Lyman manual suggests 1 1/2 grs less of the H414 ie 51.5 grs W760 vs 50 grs H414 (with the 165 gr bullet).

It is a hunting round I'm working on. I was told to use CCI250 primer which is a magnum. I shot a magnum primer with W760 with a speer 180 hotcor, very accurate in a 308. But i'm not sure if I can use the magnum primer all the time for other bullet weights and be safe?
 
The Speer manual calls for CCI 250 Magnum primers with all weights of bullets when using W760 or H414.
All the other manuals (Nosler, Hornady, Lyman) call for standard primers ie Federal 210, Remington 9 1/2 etc.
The Hodgdon manual just calls for "large rifle" primers.
The Lee Manual says "use magnum primers only when the load data specifies magnum primers". The Lee manual only specifies "large rifle primers" - no mention of brand or type.

If all you've got is Magnum primers - go ahead and use them for your ball powders (especially in below zero F. weather).
If you run out of Magnum primers and can only get standard primers - go ahead and use them too. See if there's a difference in accuracy, trajectory etc.

Going back over the last 25 years (before that I didn't note the type of primer) of my loading notes I find that I have mostly used CCI 200 primers for all my loads. I did note, however, that my absolute best accuracy in my Win. M70 6.5x55 was with CCI 250's. Might have been just a good day.
