he who hesitates is lost...

its a tough call because sometimes you pick up a rifle at a gunshow and come back later just before closing and they have marked it down-and sometimes you come back and its gone...

I don't have that problem with wives. I just go ahead and buy things, and if they don't like it, too bad. Of course, I can say that because at the present, I don't have one. If you have a girlfriend, they usually don't put up too much fuss.......that is, until they become a wife......then you have a problem.

Sir, some people spend years studying world-philosophies in a quest for enlightenment and deeper understanding....:yingyang:....but I think I can bypass that all and just bask in the glow of your sage and wise words!....:D....

On the lighter side, you might get yourself a Labrador Retriever. When you bring it home, you can tell your wife that "it loves you, it wants to go hunting with you, it doesn't talk back, it does what you tell it to, it lays on the bed to keep you warm at night, and it already has a fur coat." Of course, you might also ask your wife how well she can swim with a duck in her mouth.

The dog house that comes with the Labrador Retriever can be quite comfortable at times, and real men don't mind sleeping on the chesterfield. It's like camping out!

Seriously, "that was zen, this is tao"....:p....if you ever decide to offer classes, I think you'll hear......:

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. But I think I'll go on the retreat anyway.

Loving it!....

somehow I turned into a gun COLLECTOR because with 6 in my gun cabinet I really can't say I NEED another....

IMHO, a lot of this "colector" stuff is really "justificiation-after-the-fact"....:nest:..., once we've accumulated more than we had initially intended....:stirthepot2:......:p

I have seen something that is underpriced at a gun show, put it down thinking that I should see what else is there, gone down about three tables, and re-thought about it. When I turned around to go back, sure enough, there went the underpriced rifle off with someone else. Now, when I find something like that, I just buy it.
.

I have yet to ever see an underpriced gun at a gun show.

Just picked up another tradex rifle. Everytime I look at his inventory I get this feeling that the gun buying public in Canada is retarded. How can he keep mausers with very good bores, all set up for scopes or with scopes and steel side mounts in stock at prices less then a POS stevens/savage! I am doing my best to deplete his inventory and I know a few other smart guys are too but come on guys wise up!

He is giving these rifles away.

I didn't buy my BRNO ZG-47 from Trade Ex but a couple of weeks ago i was cruising their site and found that they have a few of them in stock for 850$ IIRC. If you don't get the swede, get one of these RBF. They are seriously sweet rifles. Again, IIRC they were mostly all chambered in 30-06 but there was also one, for higher price mind you, in 9.3x62. If only i had the cash...

Underpriced guns at Gun shows

I have yet to ever see an underpriced gun at a gun show.

Well, son, maybe you are not going to the right Gun Shows.

I have bought: a .280 Ross sporter for $75, a .256 Buffalo Newton for $25, a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser with a military stock but a Timney Deluxe trigger for $40, a Savage 330 (made by Valmet) 12 ga. over/under for $200, a Mauser .22 training rifle for $50, an original Winchester P-14 for $40, a pre-64 Winchester 70 in .270 made in 1941 with the transitional safety for $75, a Remington 788 in 22-250 for $100, a Savage 110 in 25-06 for $100, and a BSA Commercial SMLE No.1Mk3 target rifle regulated by Fulton for $150 complete with Parker Hale target sight? Whoops, forgot to mention my Remington 513S Sporter for $89, a Winchester Model 50 12 ga. shotgun for $100, and a Browning BPS 12 ga. engraved Trap gun with two vent rib barrels for $250.

That is just a few in the last 10 years. I am 69 now, been shooting since I was 12, and attending gun shows for at least 55 years. Can you imagine what I have seen and bought over that time?

HOLY CARP!
WTF!

That's nothing like the prices at the shows out our way.
At the last show I saw a Swede Ljungman with it's Tool kit, Bayonet
(incorrect sling but the next table had one for sale)
2 boxes of factory ammo.

For what my dyslexia saw as $250...blink and look again no the price was an insane $520!

Same rifle and kit and I'm pretty sure it is the same rifle sold a few months ago from a local gunstore for $250. That's a $270 mark-up.

Add in other tables that sport junk items such as SKS receiver scope mounts (worth new at $20 on fleabay) being priced at $120.

Anyway...rant off/ :D

^ Cash!? He who has VISA, does not need cash!!

Yeah it will only cost 50 bucks a year to finance the 'renting' of a tradex bargain. Truth be told that aint bad! I feel a x62 coming on LOL>

Buffdog,

Clearly you are correct, and I'm not going to the right shows!!! :)

I moved from Manitoba to Alberta about 20 years ago...damn, I didn't realize I'd be missing such bargains.

Jeff.
