How bout a head to head battle of 2 rifles.
Weatherby vanguard lazer mark cabelas edition with the lazer engraved oak leaves vs bergera timberline.
Both chambered in 3006. Both have wood stocks. Both companies are known for making accurate rifles. Price is roughly the same.
Looking for any and all comments on either or both

I can't bring myself to like the weatherby rifles. The stock lines make me think it should appear in a 70's ####o. conversely though, they are supposed to be fantastic rifles.

The bergara has the classic rifleman lines I like, but I have never handled one. Also good reputation.

The Bergara is a cheaply made Spanish cast rifle selling for a premium. Doesn't really turn my crank. I've owned Sabatti which are also cast (in Italy) but were priced accordingly at $500.
Ruger I would trust their investment casting, they have been doing it for 60 years or whatever.
Want nice wood, get a CZ.

I own the vanguard you described. I love it, just as nice as my mark Vs. I know nothing of Bergara though. The trigger is pretty decent in the vanguard, so is the accuracy guartentee.

Having owned and fired several Vanguards, and having developed loads for one Bergara, I would choose a Vanguard any day. The Bergara had a better trigger, but it was extremely fussy as to loads, and it fouled worse than any rifle I have ever developed loads for.

I cannot speak for the Bergara, but I do own a Lazerguard [Vanguard II with engraving in stock, good wood]
chambered in 30-06. It is crazy accurate with several loads I have tried in it. For example, a 180 Accubond
over 60 grains of Superformance, gets 2810 and shoots under ¾ moa consistently.
Even the old design Winchester Silvertip shoots right around 1 moa, using Norma MRP, and that is not usually
though of as a superbly accurate bullet.
I will take the Vanguard every time. I have 4 Vanguard rifles, and all are very, very accurate. My 257 Weatherby
got a Boyd's Laminate in the classic design to replace the Tupperware. Just like wood the best. Dave.
