Heads up - Colt New Service - 1900 Canadian Boer War issue (on sale on GB)

[rickruddell]

Am not sure if this is the right place to post this - but here goes:

There is a Gunbroker auction for a 455 Colt new service - comes with a Colt letter confirming that it was one of the 350 guns delivered to Montreal in 1900 and ultimately were used in the Boer War. Is marked RCR (Royal Canadian Regiment?).

Link to auction: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=426383926

Anyway - am hoping that somebody will buy this gun and return it to Canada (where it belongs!).

looks like a pretty nice gun, too bad it'd still likely be restricted.

No G Lukus listed in the CEF database. Strange...

Did you check the Boer War attestation papers?

Yes - no Lukus. But note that the the grip is inscribed France 1915.

Closest I can find is a George Lukcas (SN is 428). No digital file to verify
