Juat wanted to give fellow XCR owners a heads up that the magpul mag link coupler does not work with our guns! I tries different setups with the coupler and it either hits the charging handle or blocks the ejection port.

I didn't see mention of it anywhere before, so I hope this helps someone out

I presume you mean the magazine(s) come into contact with either the charging handle on the left or block the ejection port on the right? Pretty sure it won't just be a problem with the Magpul MagLink then...

Sorry, the mags themselves come into contact with the charging handle and/or block the ejection port depending on which mag is higher than the other.

If you run them at the same height, it also doesn't work well because it's in the way of the charging handle

So is it just a problem with PMAGs - or does the same problem present itself with standard USGI magazines/couplers?

I think it will affect any type of coupler, it very noticeably hits the magazine Just the way it was designed...works for an AR because the charging handle is at the back

That sucks, to be sure. And unfortunately it isn't something any amount of loctite will fix. ;) I wonder if a slimmer charging handle would resolve it? Guess you guys will have to stick to the Surefire magazines...

personally I find it incredibly hard to imagine a situation in which pulling two mags, rotating them 180 degrees, and reinserting them correctly would be faster (or even half as fast) as just pulling a new mag from your belt...

to say nothing of the issues with running a mag upside down generally speaking

Couldn't they just locktite them together?

I've got a CAA mag coupler that I cut in half and use to hold two LARs with Magpul ranger plates together. If you set the one on the left a little bit lower than the other, it will just clear the charging handle while keeping the right one low enough to avoid ejection issues.

It's not real handy for running the CH, but I just use it to start with for 3 gun. If you run to locked open on the first mag, using the hold open paddle to run the bolt forward makes the lack of access to the CH a moot point.

The first reload is very quick with this set-up.

There was a guy down south that was making folding charging handles for the xcr. Only saw them once or twice, but look like an awesome idea.I've love to see someone do a run of them. That big bulb that is on there now hangs up on stuff.
