Heads up on Bushnell Elite scopes...

I've heard on another forum that Bushnell is dropping the Elite 3200 and 4200 series scopes for something new for 2011.

This could be the start of a sell off of existing inventories.

Elites are pretty good scopes, could be some opportunities coming up to snag 'em at bargain prices!

The 2011 catalogue is up on Bushnells website. They didn't really drop any models just some name changes. A few new ones but nothing really exciting.

Just had a look...

There's still the 6500 series Elite, but no 3200 and 4200 series.

Instead the "Elite" scopes are now what appears to be the equivalent of the 4200 series, with 95% light transmission.

Looks like the 3200 has been replaced by the "Trophy XLT".

I have a 6500 Elite and it is unquestionably a great scope. Have a friend in the States that I could ship it to. I wonder if it is illigal for my friend to send me a scope by personal mail.

With the dollar at par, don't think there'd be much advantage.

The 4200 3x9x40 that sold for $299 down there could be had up here for around $329. I'd guess we'll be seeing these now for around $229, maybe less, up here. And equivalent 3200 series could maybe drop into the $150 price range, maybe even less, which would be a helluva deal!

Sometimes when a manufacturer decides to drop a major line of product like this, they offer incentive/rebates to dealers to clear the old inventory off the shelves fast as possible.

I'd expect to see similar bargains up here pretty quick.

Just a warning, there are reports that the 4200 3-9x40 is not in the same class as the other scopes in the 4200 series. Its still a good deal, if you know what to expect.

I've used these in the 3000 and 3200 series, basically same, but not the quality of optics of the 4200, as in "multicoated" vs "fully multicoated". Had nothing but great luck with 'em, no problems of any kind.
