Hey fellas, after moving from one of north america's hunting mecca's (NWT), to Nova Scotia, i've seemed to have developed a twitch and my doctor says i'm in need of a significant big game hunting trip. Well that's what i'm telling the old lady, but all joking aside, my nwt moose and caribou meat is running out and i feel the need to plan a trip. I don't really care where out east (quebec, New brunswick, NFLD, even Maine/New Hampshire) but not looking to break the bank, any idea's?

Well you can pretty much rule out NB for moose unless your very lucky . Ive been 23 yrs applying and still havent got a tag. I think you can moose hunt in quebec without a guide though if you want to do it on the cheap.

Newfoundland or Labrador is closest for caribou. Not sure if there are many licenses for come from aways (CFA's) though. Shouldn't be hard to get a moose license here but you'd have to go through and outfitter.

Agree that is your best two spots for sure. Good Luck;)

i'm from NS, i love it hear, loved the north too but NS is closer to family, wanted my kids to grow up around grandparents, cousins etc.

Here for the same reasons and fully understand. Yes I gave up great hunting in the US also but never looked back and that was over 40 years ago now.I just save my pennies and head out west or NL for moose etc when the shaking gets real badtake care

Move back, ASAP!

I agree, move back, I wish I never left 20 years ago when I was in Inuvik:(. Although I did move back to Ontario for the same reasons you did. All I can say is I have enjoyed being around family and Ontario is the worst province in the country:eek:. I have lived in or visited all of the provinces and territories. You have to meet some of the people who live here, no idea:bangHead:.

Labrador is not issuing any non-res licenses for caribou...Moose is a draw system in Lab. Newfoundland moose with an outfitter is pretty much it for east coast.

Quebec is probably the best area to get in on some moose or caribou with an outfitter.
