Depends on what you're hunting. If I'm hunting birds, I ALWAYS wear electronic muffs (Peltors). If big game, a set of earplugs around your neck so you can pop them in before the shot (most times).
Hunting pheasants in corn with electronic muffs is cool. It amplifies normal hearing, so you can actually hear them running away or towards you. Stereo sound lets you know where they are coming from.
My hearing is already a bit hosed from too much shooting as a lad, so I need to protect it at all costs now!

I use the reusable ear plugs I always used (or should have always used) when I was in a travelling rock band. They are called 'hearoes'. Corny name, but they work like a charm. You can google the name and read about them.
We wear Peltor electronic muffs here is a pic of my little guy wearing a set the best price I have found for them is from one of the CGNTZ dealers SRS Tactical on the top right of this page.
When the weather is cold I wear the muffs as well but I also wear E.A.R. hearing aids here is a link.
