Some time back I watched the two videos linked below on how to make and use a small tray filled with chips of brass as an aid to fire bluing small parts. At the time I thought "what a great way to control even tempering of small springs and firing pins and the like!".
Lately I've been looking at the idea of getting into stainless pin media and a wet tumbler.
I just had a "EUREKA ! !" moment while thinking about this when it occurred to me that the stainless pin media should also be a great media for a small parts fire bluing and parts tempering tray.
What say you? Am I onto a nice idea or is there a good reason to waste down a lump of brass or stainless steel to produce the chips instead?
