No sanding , oh, God not the dremel.
I tried widing the front bracket with pliers and noticed that the shield was wanting to warp a little, so stopped doing that.
Wrapped the barrel with 3-4 turns of black electric tape About 4 inches back from where it was going to sit, just enough that the back bracket wasn't on the barrel yet.
Then just kept pressing it , [you don't have to do it from the top , side works too , then just rotate the heatshield after. ] and as I'm pressing it onto the barrel, the bracket is digging into the tape and starts to peel back the top layers, I'm thinking ,f*k me this is going to leave a mark.
But, strangely enough, as it peeled back the top layers, they're balling up and stopping the bracket from digging into the last layer, all most like the tape was widening the bracket, the tape acting like a lube and slid on without marking the barrel .
Long story short, better to be lucky then smart.
The hardest part of this for me was getting the nut started on the first bolt for the clamp.
I want to also add that this is never coming off .
