Just wanna gathering more info since I'm thinking about upgrading my std buffer to a heavier one. Does anybody running atrs heavy buffer or sj hardware heavy buffer on their 10.5?is it a big difference?do I need to upgrade the recoil spring as well ?plz advise and thank you:redface:
 
I run a slash 6.0 on 11.5 to 16"
No but a new spring is often part of the upgrade.

The question is what are you trying to fix / improve?

Last I checked, what S&J and ATRS had avaliable weren't really that heavy.
I would get one if it was building a new lower, but other then quality of finish which would result in the buffer riding smoother, I would not expect much different results over stock.

I wouldn't bother with anything under 5.0oz personally but it all depends on how your machine is gassed.
You idealy want your brass casting to 3 - 4 oclock.
 
6.0 oz!?wow that's a real heavy buffer.haha
I am just looking for improvement(smoother and maybe quicker follow up?). My stock buffer is 3.0 which is std.thanks for your info thou :)
 
If your BCG isn't bouncing and your rifle isn't overgassed, why change the buffer weight?

For smoother feel, check out the Spike's Tactical buffers or a JP Enterprises Captured Buffer.

My ejection casings are landing around 2 o'clock that's the main reason I wanted to do some upgrade. Just ordered spikes t2 something goodies from brownell ! I will see if I need stronger recoil spring from JP(already closed to 100 dollar marks ) thanks again for all of ur helpful opinions :)

Yes. No sense buying new parts if you don't know if your current one works. Note where your brass is ejecting to or if you're having other issue.
 
I found the JR 9mm carbine beat the crap out of the buffer rubber stop in the tube....so much i upgraded to a heavy unit....no issues....functions good,...does not feel like it is beating the #### out of the gun anymore. if you are finding your AR is taking a beating, perhaps a heavier buffer might be in order.
 
My 10 1/4" carbine runs like a champ (never had a single FTE or FTF) with correct ejection angle using just an M16 BCG and a standard weight buffer.
