I've only shot the surplus 147gr x54r ammo in my SVT. How are you guys finding the 180gr x54r surplus for these rifles?

Mine likes the 204gr MFS and LVE, but I've never seen any surplus for 180gr. Only commercial ammo, Sellier, and PVRI makes 180s

I'd like to ask, for anyone using the 203 grain MFS, I am new to the SVT40 and was just curious if you shoot a lot of it or if would be considered too heavy for prolonged use? Thanks.

I had tried some heavy ball 182gr several years ago. Only 100rds, and it shot so-so. I'm not sure if it had been stored well so I didn't want to make a firm judgement on it vs light ball.

I shoot more than most. I haven't worn out my rifle yet.

My first impressions were that they were finicky and can become loose in their stocks. That was at least my concern. The above responses are good enough for me. They seem fairly reliable, more than I believed at first :)
