Heavy barrel too big for a barrel nut?

I have a heavy barrel that has a .936 gas block, but am having a hard time finding any barrel nuts that will fit in.

I've tried 3 different types, 1 traditional and 2 that were handguard specific.

They havent been able to make it past the where the gas block seats. The closest being the traditional nut, where I could take a dremel and give it a little more opening to clear - but then Im limited to the types of handguards I can run on it (and of course the ones I have currently aren't usuable then :p).

The other barrel nuts that are handguard specific are a little thin for my liking to take a dremel to to open it up.

I have time to get this remedied - as its for my ATRS MS build.

Hmm I've got an stag 10 and slr build both with wide inner diameters for the handguard but never thought of the barrel nut being unable to clear. They're both using Jp supermatch barrels

After a little more research, this seems a common issue for some bull barrels. 1.010" seems to be the norm for some of these barrels on the step up after the gas block. Trying to find an "oversized barrel nut" is now the fun part... or doing exactly as I was thinking (oversizing the diameter myself) may be an option.

Here's where I wish I had a lath to make easy and symmetrical work of it vs the ol' hand file or dremel route.

Looks like I may have to go with the conventional barrel nut and try to track a new HG for my build now :p

TNA is one of the handguards I have/wanted to use (the lightweight).

Reached out to TNA and it looks like they might be able to machine one up for me to fit the barrel! Pretty pumped on that and great shout out to TNA on it. Love how theyve really helped blow up the AR15 / Black Rifle world by bringing solid parts in at affordable costs.
