Heavy Geese

Yeah, bow and arrows. More challenging than a 10 gauge & 4 ounces of BB's.

:sniper:

Never tried but would love to see some of your pics! Sounds like a real challenge.....had a buddy go pheasant hunting with me one time that used a longbow...that was cool. You use a longbow for geese or a compound? What about arrow heads? You use fluflu arrows?

I prefer a regular compound bow set up for deer hunting, & shoot ones that have landed on the ground after they have relaxed and started feeding. I am thinking of getting into some more specialized equipment though, maybe a long-bow and some flu flus and then try out some arial shoots. Sorry but no pics, I can't ever seem to remember to bring a camera hunting, and have very few hunting pics.

Oh, just noticed all the photos you've been posting on another site...no biggie. Ya, flying geese would be a challenge.......more so than on the ground I'd think. Not my cup of tea but cool for those that do it!

I think landing flocks of geese within bow range, and then getting a kill shot off with a bow is much more of a challenge than flinging arrows at flying ones.

If you let them land, then feed long enough amongst the decoys they become quite relaxed. But, if you have issues with that you can hope they 'flush' and poke them when they try to leave and aren't yet moving at full speed.

I'll post some pics someday.

Ya me too....I've always had way more difficulty hitting static targets than flying ones!

How many flocks can you usually land (in the kill hole) on your hunts? Enough to kill a limit with a bow?

I think you are missing the point here... Any moron can hit a goose sized target with a bow, at 20 yards. The
challenge is getting the geese to land within range, and stick around long enough to send an arrow their way.

Never tried......don't hunt geese with a bow. Always shoot them before they land. Sometimes let a few land if bigger flocks are working decoys but that's it.

Sorry, missed the edit.....

You must hang around with some different morons than me because where I come from, shooting flying birds with a bow is a bit of feat. Not surprising it's easy for you though......

Truthfully I have no interest in shooting a goose, flying or sitting with a bow but respect those that do. Not sure why you are belabouring this point with me. If you've shot a goose with a bow, congrats! I'm sure there are some great archery sites on the interweb where you could share your thoughts and feats! There might even be an award for it somewhere that you are entitled to!
