Heckler and Koch P30L - Pics

thanks for posting,...do you think you could post a close up of the mag well and trigger distance from the frame in Single action? I think you could get a higher grip if you line up your thumbs above the slide release,..just along the frame/slide.

Could try, what do you want to see exactly with the magwell?

Here you go.

Added some shots for you. Some are intentionnally over-lightened to get some details of the dark magwell inside. Took many shots of the magwell since I did not know what you were interested in.

The close up trigger shots are in the SA position.

I am primarily interested in the reset distance for SA,..doesn not look as great as the Custom sport distance,..magwell does not look that friendly for quick mag changes,..but slightly better than the USP.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but the P2000 10 round magazines are identical to the P30's for the exception of the baseplate. The P30 has that funky extension on it so it fits the pistol. It must have been a compromise for those of us with neutered mags!

Went back to the range yesterday...

I'm concerned about that P30...

I definitely shoot low and left, groups are improving. I also have some difficulties with the sights.

Everyone who tried it were low and left, 5 people yesterday.

In contrast, I tried a CZ Shadow yesterday and was able to group in 1.5 in bulls'eye on the 2 mags I shot.

Any suggestions?

most HK's are set up from the factory shooting POI,.= POA. You basically cover what you want to shoot. I do not like this set-up,...I prefer have my shots hit 1"high at 25yards.
IN contrast to the shadow results,...one shadow I had shot right on from the factory,..whilst another shot way off and to the left,..both out of the box.

new shipment according to FN rep Jose is coming in next week. We will see if I get one of those. I will keep my fingers crossed.

I took some pictures to try and compare the P30L to my USP and P2000. I would say the pistol for the most part sits between the two. The grip isn't nearly as big as the USP however will either fit or not fit. The grip on the P30L also isn't quite a tall as I recall the HK45 being. I wish the pistol was in LEM from the factory but I guess I'll have to keep working on that.

How tights are your groups with the P30L? Can you compare it to the accuracy of a Sig p226 or p229..

At least as accurate, if not more so.http://www/gallery.me.com/inmans/100289

The centre dot is .75"...this was the first ten rounds (Remington factory 147Gr.) fired...used a 6 o'clock hold on the centre cirlce....standing with a two handed hold.....definitely shot a bit low and left...
This isn't quite as tight as I can do with my USP Expert in 40S&W., but it's pretty close.
I don't have huge hands...take a medium sized golf :)redface:) glove... and I ended up using the thickest side panels, with the medium backstrap for the best compromise on grip size.
I like the grip angle/size better than my 'benchmark pistol...the G17...but not as much as my Sig 229.
This pistol (P30L) will definitely appeal to those with smaller hands/shorter fingers and I can see where those with 'Wookie' sized mitts (you know who you are Rob!) would have problems finding a workable compromise.
Would recommend a 'try it and see' before buying, if possible.
Otherwise, the handling characteristics, trigger pull, etc. (with the exception of having to drift the rear sight and changing to a 'bullseye' hold) would make this a direct competitor to the G17/M&P/XD, etc....except for the price.

Thanks Foxbat,

the P30L is definitely my next purchase, I have average hands so the grip should be fine for me. I was struggling between the USP and the P229, but I am pretty sure the P30L will be the best bet
