What happens when govnt contracts go to the lowest bidder, either you can’t beat someone’s crappy build on price and even if you do their is no profit left to keep business going.

Big Shame, only bright side is their may be some amazing custome work small companies come from this. Not to mention perennial patten sell offs.

When they dont care to study or price accordingly to the civilian market and fail to score major government contracts then this is neither sad nor unexpected news.

Everything they sell is overpriced for the civilian market. They have zero understanding of the average shooters buying power.

What, you mean you don't have $16 000 for a fancy AR?

Always sucks to see a gun company in dire straights, but the free market is a #####, adapt or die.

HK are dumb ####s who for years have refused to sell various models to the civilian market. Screw em no one cares.

Womp womp
Maybe relocate to any of the surrounding countries with less pants on the head export laws and start caring about the civilian market, or don't

Can't say I'm surprised. There was a price to be paid for concentrating on military contracts and not putting any civilian product out. There's a single unsold SL8-4 with that wonky thumbhole handgrip for $1999 at my local Cabelas. Too pricey and there's cheaper better alternatives. Oddball orphans gathering dust screams a manufacturer that is out to touch with the market.

In fact, the situation is so bad that, as The Firearm Blog reported just last month, H&K employees jointly voted to increase weekly work hours without paid overtime, as well as nixed a one-off payment of 400 Euros per head for the month of July, so as to provide their beleaguered company some form of relief.

Something you'll never see from UNIFOR?... :canadaFlag:

You can't argue about there quality or design, there main "market" is LE and MIL, however in todays economy with the "lowest bidder" mentality, it's a "race to the bottom" unfortunately.
