Heckler & Koch MR223A3 question

Man, the RAL8000 looks so good. Im sure they shoot like a dream. Anyone done some accuracy testing with them?

All the HK MR223/HK416 I have ever shot are all 10 round 2MOA guns at 300m, using AE M855. The actual results are more like 1.5 to 1.6, but I say 2MOA to be conservative. Last time I shot the 11" at 500 yards it was about a 2MOA 10 round group ( may be smaller actually) when I got down to the butt to see the result.

That is why I only shoot HK guns at SVC - they are insensitive to ammo brands. If you put SS109/M855 ammo in it, whether it is AE, IMI or PMC, it will deliver. I don't have to worry about reloading, match ammo and all that tedious stuff. I can go buy a can of AE XM855 which is sold everywhere, and the accuracy is more than enough to bust someone at 500 yrds.

No wonder the USMC is using the 416 as a squad DM.

This is the exact reason why I sold off all my other semi auto 308s and got the MR308. My POF Gen 4 shot really well with FGMM, but the MR308 shoots really well even with PMC, barnaul, or hirtenberger.

I concur with Greentips.

A few years back I was at our local range and a very experienced Colt Canada Shooter / Fanboy was there. My MR223 printed a group about .70 MOA and he couldn't believe it (with AE Boxed ammo). They do seem to shoot everything well. Bob Schultz from HK (retired now) would always present the HK416 as being so special because of the HK Barrel Technology and barrel quality, not anything else.

Yeah I would usually refrain from posting my groups, because people would always claim it’s BS. But HK makes some great stuff even for the price they are charging on some of it you actually get more than what you are paying for. Which I know would sound crazy to some.

They use special steel from France, cold hammer forged by GFM machines and each one is straightened by senior technicans using this machine invented from almost 100 years ago because a machine cannot do it better than human.

I figured they would shoot well. I have read some guys say with worked up handloads you can get under an inch.
I have noticed with other HK stuff I have they all prefer FULL boat loads. They shoot everything well but seem to run the best and shoot the best groups with ammo known for being loaded Hot.
I would like to get a mr308 eventually as well but will have to wait for range to get approved for 308.

That’s because they are made to military or really tough tolerances. Just go out and get one spread the word. HK is the best.

I got Geissele SCH in DDC in mine, much more ###ier than my Radian CH.
I like the Gieselle but in a 416 variant I prefer the raptor CH. it’s better it has a heavier charge back when pulling the bolt back than a DI gun.

Plus I prefer where the pins are not inside the upper, if they walk it can bring your gun down. I have had this happen at least once. If you look at LWRC they have captive pins which is great.

I want as reliable as possible. Like duty setup. Should I switch it ?
I would use the Raptor. Cam pins stay outside the upper receiver. So if they walk on regular or Gieselle they can mar your upper and prevent the BCG from being charged.

Remember the 416 or piston has more mass and is harder Recoil impulse. This in my opinion is a week point in both DI and Piston AR. It’s rare but it does happen.

Just gonna stay with the factory, they have an enlarged charging handle and I’m right handed anyways so ambi is not really necessary for me

The factory is fine. When you start shooting a lot. You change your mind. That would be the only real part I would consider doing.
Besides that, perhaps 3 prong surefire flash hider to add a training can or warden.
