The USP variant introduced into service by the German Armed Forces.

Overview of the P8A1:

- Ambidextrous magazine release
- Combined safety and de-cocking lever leave the weapon in a safe state after de-cocking

- Cold hammer forged barrel made of high-strength steel with lands and grooves profile

The following features of the P8A1 differ from the USP:

From what I am aware of, none of the USP-type pistols have been imported into Canada with the clear (18 round, for standard USP/P8) magazines. Of course the mags would have to be pinned/riveted, but I have a USP, have owned others in the past, currently own 7 other HK pistols and an HK rifle, and I have never seen or heard of anyone privately owning the clear mags in Canada. If these pistols had the clear mags, that alone would be an automatic "buy" for me, as that is unique and cool. Sadly, I think the only real differences between this pistol and the the 9mm USP are going to be: (a) the markings on the slide, (b) the standard (non-polygonal) rifled barrel, and HK poly barrels are great, and (c) the reversed safety decocker. Still cool though. Should be a nice pistol.

Some stores already have these, anyone look at one? Clear 18 round mags, pinned, or (inevitably), black 10-round "California mags" (not pinned, but factory made to hold only 10 rounds).

My P8 (not A1) that I bought a few years ago came with the standard black 10 round polymer mags. I highly suspect that the P8A1 with also have the same.

They come with the regular factory 10 rounds (black) magazine, not the translucent ones shown above.

What dealers can get these? Would Wolverine supplies be able to obtain this? Also, is this a limited release item, or can it always be had?

Where are you located in Ontario? It's not a limited release item but stocks are limited so you may have to wait for restock if they're sold out.

Any "end user" feedback from "lefties" out there? What mags are compatible?

Sorry to necrobump this thread. I’m a lefty. Just got a P8A1. Grip is great for lefties. Easy to manipulate lever into fire position with side of index finger. A little more difficult to get the lever back into safe position with left hand.

I bought a USP match trigger kit for it. Hope it will fit ok. Can’t see why it wouldn’t, but maybe others have first hand knowledge?

I do not think the Match Trigger will work with it, I may be wrong but from what guys on HKPro and here as well it will not work. There are a few slight differences in the fire control parts, I am not 100% but I would assume that a few parts will and a few parts will not work.

Latch, flat spring, trigger return spring, and trigger are common part numbers to USP and P8.

Hammer and hammer spring are different part numbers on P8 than USP.

Ahhh I knew there was a couple parts that were different, just was not sure which specific ones. Glad you figured it out.
