All SL8 barrels are cold hammer forged off of the same mandrel that forms the rifling and chamber as G36's. The G36 actually gets MORE machining to make it a G36 barrel, vs. the SL8 which remains heavy profile.

Shoot either .223Rem or 5.56x45 NATO, it doesn't matter in the HK SL8.

Will 5.56 rounds for with these?

I emailed HK, and they told me the riffle is chambered for both. I think the .223 marking is likely for markets that ban military round chambered firearms. They asked me where I was located before answering lol.
