i will chime in on this, i dont own an hk ..yet. .....but i will.
first you cant compare a glock to an hk, its like comparing a diesel engine to a gas. each have there purpose, and there strong points.
second HK do build exceptional peices . there pistols are really really good. even though not all hk pistols are for everyone, thats why they have quite a few different models to choose from. ie the p30l fits in my hand better than the usp .however i still love the usp and shoot pretty well with one. the p7 is a masterpiece. where all glocks are the same. theres 3 typs small ,medium and large. and a couple extra large.. yet they all look the same function the same blah blah blah. and yes i have one. and i love it. but i dont plan on getting anymore. they are easy to use ,easy to function easy to takedown. the hk's are a bit more complicated and technical than that. but hk's are a tiny bit more precise.
hk's are priced WAY too high for what they are. that i will agree with. but you can find a used one from time to time for a decent price, they will last the same as a glock. and they wear like glocks too. a 15yr old usp looks brand new.
 
I've had and shot a few glocks and the HK does feel more high end. Ergonomics are much better on the P30 vs glock

slide to frame finish is very tight and smooth... it feels like it's built on a tighter tolerance.

Well, you may see things like precise machining and proper fitment of parts as completely superfluous, but others will disagree. Believe it or not, some people actually enjoy owning things that have been made to a high standard of quality instead of being cobbled together in the cheapest way possible. Some people don't like slide to frame fit that is so loose it leaves a gap large enough to push a couple of credit cards through or grip frames that come with a gaping hole that you need to buy a buttplug for. It's the same reason some people buy high-end swiss watches even though a Timex shows time just as well.

Seriously, if all you care about is a gun that goes bang (and occasionally boom) and don't mind the sloppy fit, crappy plastic sights, and the ergonomics of a table leg, don't let me stop you from spending $700 on a gun that costs Glock $75 to produce.
