I thought that I would start a new thread with some photos of Heffley Creek Rondyvous. As mentioned in a previous post, there were over 150 camps by the end of the week, about 2/3 tin and 1/3 primitive and I am guessing in excess of 300 people ranging in age from about 1 month to 80 years.

first is a photo of the upper part of primitive, early in the week.

Moon is home safe but I am worried about support payments; you recall those post cards that were read out at council fire, sent while he was on vacation. Have you or Nessy any ideas on the gestation period for the strange union between a marmot and a coon?

Awesome photos ,I am thrilled to hear there are some rendezvous in Canada.
What do you mean by "tin"? Would that be the civil war and later era?
Are there any good canadian web sites that would have info for someone who is interested in getting involved.

Tin town is where all of the non primitive camps stay. At Heffley this means alongside the entrance road just behind where the cannons were firing plus up on top of the bank behind the entrance road where there are two roads through the trees with camping along each. There are outhouses scattered around and two showers with a demand water heater to fill the water buckets in each ($1 per shower multiple occupancy permitted).
I am guessing the range is probably a quarter section; at a guess the clearing is about 500 yards square and primitive at a guess occupies around 10 acres.

I think there is at least one rondyvous in Saskatchewan and you might contact Hill Folks Muzzle loading for further information. I don't have their phone number but it has been posted on this site before. I don't know of any websites for all of Canada but the BCBPA I think lists the rondys for BC and the Alberta equivalent does the same for Alberta (ABBPA?)

He has an eye patch and I think he also has arthritis because he is usually stiff as a board which is why I need the little cart to take him/her for a walk. I think Steppenwolf would agree with me that he is a truly unusual dog and that there are exceedingly few like him in Western Canada. :>)

Thanks Mooncoon ,my recent trip to Fort Carlton and Batoche has kick started my interest in the fur trade era. That should be plenty of info to get me started.
 
I sure hope to make to Heffley Creek some day it sure looks like a lot of fun!!!
I know of two Rendezvous here in Saskatchewan "River runs through" near Yorkton usualy the third week in July for more info contact "No Legs" (Roy Davi) at nolegs@#sasktel.net The other "Brokenshell"was started by me this year just out of Weyburn. It will be every August long weekend. Monk(Mark Thorn) at wm.thorn@#sasktel.net Take the # out of the E.mail addresses to use them.
Both of these are small informal camps, If anyone wants to come visit/camp next year give us a call. Here is a photo of some of the folk at the first annual Brokenshell Rendezvous, I'm the big guy in white on the left.
