This is going to be so much fun I think I just pee'ed myself! :D

It's a .218 Bee in a Browning/Winchester Model 65. If you don't know, it sits kind of between the .22 Hornet and a .221 Fireball. It's not a screamer, but it's going to be cheap to shoot and a hoot! :D I'm looking forward to trying it this Spring, but maybe the odd coyote might get in it's way first. :)

Here's a .218 case next to a .223

And here she is.

Wait, can a guy really take an unscoped rifle varmint shooting? The horror, the horror. :p

I take my 25-20 rifles with me to the fields I shoot in, all the time. Hitting the varmints all the time gets boring, so I pull out the old Winchesters and have a go with open sights. What a blast.....

Pharoah, now yer talkin'! The Browning Model 65 218 Bee is a work of art. And hunting varmints with iron sights and an vintage caliber just can't be beat. I picked up an original Winchester Model 65 this summer in 32-20. Here's a photo ..

pharaoh2; Here's a hot tip. If you want that 218 to come alive, you must try Hodgdons Lil'Gun. Top velocities and stellar accuracy. Regards, Eagleye.

Damn you I've been wanting a 218 for quite some time, a 32-20 also. I tried to get my hands on the last round of Marlins but missed out. Hope you enjoy that rifle it will be fun :)
The Browning Model 65's come up for auction on GunBroker. Leroy's will take care of the red tape as far as the export permit goes.

Thanks guys. Eagleye, got any powder charge info your willing to share?

I have shot mostly pointed bullets in mine, which would be ruled out in your levergun, but I did shoot some of the Speer 46 grain FP bullets, and they worked great. I used the Remington 6½ Primer, and 8.7 grains of Lil'Gun for 2325 avg. FWIW, the 35 Hornady V-Max went 2765 with 11.4 grains of Lil'Gun. As usual, start lower and work up. None of these loads are max in my rifle, but all are different. Regards, Eagleye.

What? No Night Farce 4.5-22power scope? Today's varmints won't fall for someone with iron sights, not expensive enough!!

.38-55, I will forever be humbled by the rifles in your collection. :)
Pharaoh, I only got a few, but I take photos of all those that pass through my hands, so it looks like I have a bunch. Your Model 65 is a real beauty. Years ago, when they first came out, I bought one from SIR in Winnipeg and brought it home. The feel of that gun is perfect ... sleek, light, points automatically, and the fit and finish was superb. Then I found out the cost of factory ammo and took it back the very next day (this was back when I could only reload whatever the Lee hand dies were made in). I've often regretted taking that gun back, especially now that I can reload for anything. I'm thinking that a cast, gas check bullet would be perfect in that rifle up to 2,200 fps.
