Hey CGN,
Would just like to gauge interest of getting some of these cool derringer style pistol brought into Canada.
ht tp://www.doubletapdefense.com/ (remove the space in http!!!)
Anyways these seem very cool, much better looking IMO then a Bond Arms...not to mention wayyy lighter, "smaller", has a much better trigger and doesn't need to be cocked after each shot. These comes in more poplar (cheaper in the case of 9mm) rounds, 9mm and .45Auto.
It comes "stock" with a 3" barrel...min. barrel length for us non 12.x holders in Canada is 4.2". BUT as you can see from the picture below...there is a gap at the real of the barrels (to show you if your loaded or not quickly). Now in Canada a barrel is legally measured in all NON REVOLVER types by putting a rod down the barrel until it touches the breach face and then measuring it. SO that means we have a little extra measuring space on this pistol so we'd hopefully only need 1" (or a TAD more) or less added onto it to make it legal.

Now...if this is not officially out til the fall in the USA and I am sure it will sell like hot cakes for the first little while so I don't expect them to be willing to make any "Canadian" models until 2014 or later. So we have time to gauge interest and see if we can get a dealer behind this and people can save their pennies if interested in the meantime.
There are many different models...such as aluminum or titanium ones along with the option of ported or not ported barrels with different pricing accordingly. The frame is the same size for both 9mm and .45Auto so you could also get a second barrel easily for it as well. Price IMO even with the extra fee for a slightly longer barrel, import/export fees and of course dealer profit should still keep these under $1,000. Not "cheap" but for well made, unique handgun I do not think its bad...especially compared to the already high price tag of a Bond Arms that lacks many of the features of the Double Tap.
***Bonus points for then being the smallest non 12.x legal pistol in Canada?***

Let me know what you all think!!!
Thanks,
- J
