I would stay away from the Henry 45-70's, they've been plagued with problems. Go for Marlin or a Ruger in my experience. Or a Sharps if you're classy

I have a 45-70 in a Ruger No 3. It's pretty light for the full power loads but with a rubber butt pad it helps. I have used it on almost any every critter found in Alberta.

He's not a site member and actually, doesn't have a computer or internet access. He's not into the social media technology of the day at all.
