Hi everyone.
I came here becasue reddit said it was a great wealth of knowledge and from what I have seen on here so far, it looks like they were right!
a lil about me. I am very new to guns, I come from a family that thought guns were bad and that hunting was evil (I recall playing deer hunter 3 back in the day and getting a lot of family flak for it. but playing counterstrike was no problem. figures). Even though my dad owned a 22 adn shotgun until they were stolen in the 90's.
I never fired a gun until a couple years ago when my freind bought a shotgun and showed me what skeet shooting is. I found it difficult, but at the same time very rewarding when I successfully made a shot. this prompted me to go and sign up and take the safety course so that i am then go adn apply for my PAL.
I'm not sure if i will ever go hunting (I do that course this weekend actually.) but I want to have the knowledge under my best at least.
basically what I am trying to accomplish is to learn about the different types of guns that are avalible, and eventually i'd like to own a few.
so far I'd want:
a 22 for plinking around with. (I think the ruger 10/22 looks pretty good)
a shotgun for more of said skeet shooting,
a rifle of sorts. probably start with an sks first and buy a more expensive one later on down the road.
I think that would cover the spectrum of things I would want to get.
what would you guys suggest for a shotgun? the 3 1.5 inch shot hurts my shoulder so I doubt I'd shoot much of that. my buddy thinks it's hilarious to hand over his shotty with a big(3 1/2" buckshot) round hidden in there (it's a rem 870) for the last shot when the first 2 were 2 3/4" target shot. it rattles your bones, and leaves your ears ringing. I should really go buy ear muffs...
anyways, I can't wait to get to owning some guns and looking forward to learning more from here too!
thanks!
