Just wanted to say hello. Had been hunting for a few years but got out of it with all the cost. Kinda took the enthusiasm away. Anyway been reading lately and would like to get a PAL, was wondering what all was required. Thanks for any info!

call Dept of Natural resources in your area and tell them you want to sign up for the non-restricted firearm safety/hunter safety course.

Hi, I live in Belleisle Creek. Handy to Sussex. Can a person challenge the test or do you have to go through the course?

yes you can challange. exam is mostly common sense and the ACTS and PROVE. during the practical, you have to know how to safel operate the 5 actions, safely cross an obstacle and identify ammunition by the headstamp.

if you want to borrow the books, i have a camp in anagance, so I make it down that way fairly regularly. I have a buddy in carsonville too if thats closer for you.

The firearms safety course is geared for someone new to firearms. If you are old enough you can challenge the exam. I think its around $40 and the DNR gives the exam.
A large part of the exam is on the ammunition section.

Hello and welcome. I took the PAL and RPAL by challenge. This was after living in the US and having been around guns for a long time. No problems. But I would recommend spending the money to get the booklets. There are a few things in there you just have to memorize (like ACTS and {PROVE). Enjoy the site.
