Welcome Yank, hope you emmigrate on reciept of your draft notice, you'll find most Canadians are pretty welcoming.
But considering alot of our ancestors were placed in Canada for the express purpose of a keeping the dirtiest of americans south of the border you can understand that a bit of republican distrust can still exist.
Just don't bring any Fineans with you or anyone still bitter about our burning your capital and it should be OK.

You'll have to leave behind all the things that are dear to your heart: SAIGA carbines and shotguns, SVD/RPK, 25 cal and 32 cal handguns, standard capacity mags... Do you still want to move up North?
 
don't get too close to the boarder please, for your own sake. The anti-gun climate up here might infect one of the truly last free nations.
