Hi there, name's Angie. I recently completed the Restricted and Non-restricted courses and passed with flying colours :) I'm just waiting on them to send me the stuff in the mail, but apparently it bounced back so I've been dealing with quite a long wait! Either way, I don't have my license just yet but once the papers arrive I'll be sending off all the forms asap.

I'm a university student majoring in Biology and Psychology and I wanted to try target shooting. When my mother was my age she lived on the Air force bases and joined a rifle club. Despite being blind in one eye, which meant shooting with her weak hand, she was their best shooter and won them gold in competitions.

My firearms instructor, Dave Bartlett, recommended this website so I thought I'd just drop in and check it out.

Welcome aboard, an Ottawa resident myself, as are quite a few here. I hope you will find this forum a great source of information, educational or otherwise.

:welcome: Angie, great to have you on board. hope you paperwork comes through real soon so you can start showing the men how it's done. Another great website is the Canadian Shooting Sports (icon at the top of the page) read up on us, then join and support us, it's a great way to support your sport and your rights as a gun owner. and again :welcome::welcome:

If you're shooting restricted guns, I hope you're patient. I took my courses back in the first week of February at the RA Centre in Ottawa, and I only now have all of the necessary paperwork in place to go shooting for the first time this weekend. That's IF I can find some 9mm ammo, which everyone seems to be out of in town.

Welcome!!

Depending on what end of town you live in, there are some clubs you should check out! In the East: EOHC... In the West: Stittsville Shooting Range/Benny's and Centreish: RA Centre.

If you want to visit EOHC let me know, also, I'm sure there are some members of the other clubs that would be happy to take you as their guest.

Welcome aboard! I'm new to shooting and new to Ottawa as well. I've managed to get my RPAL (only took three months!) and have invested in a rimfire rifle and a 12ga shotgun, but won't be getting a handgun until my club holds it's safety course in the fall, and is willing to back my play for an ATT. Hope to see you out on the range!
Ric
PS Bennie's pro shop at Stittsvile has 9mm.

My firearms instructor, Dave Bartlett, recommended this website so I thought I'd just drop in and check it out.

Be careful around that Bartlett fellow ;). He told me shooting was an inexpensive hobby and that I would have plenty of time to be with my family. Look at me now, broke and strung out on CGN :(.

Go back! Stop before you go too far!

Welcome aboard! I'm in Ottawa too and am looking at hooking up with a club to do some restricted shooting too sometime. I've had my restricted for a few years now, but never got around to picking up a gun, or joining a club. Was thinking about the RA centre, but am not decided yet. Guess I have to take a range course, and those things yet. Enjoy the website and welcome!!

Matt

Hi Angie, welcome aboard! Cool, I'm not the only biologist-and-rifle-fanatic-and-Ottawa-resident on Gunnutz :)

Stay in touch, once in a while a few members post in the forum about meeting dates at a local range.

Cheers,

Lou

Thank you all for the lovely welcome :)

I just got the paperwork in the mail yesterday so my forms are all filled out and ready to be sent off! I just need to clear off my credit card to pay the fee :p
