Hi all,

I'm totally new to gun sports of any kind. Because of this I will probably be spending most of my time (in the beginning) on this forum reading, and learning what you all have to share. I've had a neighbour who has been into hunting for a long time, and ALWAYS asks me to come up north with him, but I've never gone (unfortunately). However I plan on going along next time, so I can learn more about his techniques, and basic hunting knowledge.

For now I have a course to take in about a week, and then I have to wait for the PAL, RPAL. I'm new to any kind of guns, its exciting, but also makes me a bit nervous. No one in my family has ever owned guns before. So I have zero experience with handling them.

This forum from what little I've been able to read over the last few days is a great place to get information relevant to me, which is a lot harder over regular Google searches. Glad to be part of it. Let me know if I can be of help in any way.

Cheers,
QB

Welcome aboard!! :D
This site is a plethora of information, advice (whether you want it or not ;)) and ideas.
Going hunting is not just about the hunt. You'll find the comraderie, being a part of nature and just the departure from the anxieties of your day-to-day life to be more than sufficient to get you back out year after year.
Don't be nervous about the courses/tests. They are all common sense. You'll do well.
You've just entered a fascinating sport that is not "dark" like the media would like you to believe.
Welcome to the obsession!! :dancingbanana:

Good to meet you. I understand where you are coming from. I knew nothing about firearms about seven years ago. Now I know a little more.

In terms of access to accurate info, this is one of the best sites on the entire Internet.

May I suggest that you read the political groups, including action, articles and discussions. The threads there will really be an eye-epener.

There are lots of 905 gunnutz. I think our job is to hold the lid on 416.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, the first little while here I'm going to make myself familiar with all the politics involved. I just began reading about it recently, but I'm a quick study.

Later on I suppose I can ask about first guns, and all the other fun stuff.

Nice. You can do both. I'm a newbie of about six or seven years myself. I started very late.

But I learned very early that being politically involved is one of the best ways to keep my guns.

But learn about firearms, too.
