Hello everyone! I am 27, and I don't have boobs so I wont get as many replies as some. : P

I have been around firearms my whole life being the son of a gun nut. I would consider my Father to be an expert. He's on here somewhere, no names. Thinking on it, I don't even know his user name here... :p

This weekend I am doing the safety course for my non-restricted and restricted PAL. Have read through each of the manuals 3x over so I am quite excited and prepared.

Have been reading up on, and learning our Canadian firearm laws. They are quite confusing and make me feel like we live in a NERF'd society. I'm sure there are lots of threads on here discussing our laws.

Once I get my license my Dad is going to give me one of his many .22s. Once I am comfortable with that I want to get a Norinco M4 Carbine to take to a range. Apparently our laws only allow that firearm to have a 5 round mag? But then I've read comments saying there's a loop hole that allows you to have a 10round mag? Anyone know anything about that?

Anyway just wanted to say "Hey!".

Magazines designed for a pistol, that happen to fit in a rifle are deemed legal for use in their designed 10 round state.
ie the "commonly available" LAR-15 pistol mag (10 round .223/5.56) functions in an AR-15 rifle, and may be used in one.

you may not, however, take a 30 round AR mag, pin it to 10 rounds and use it in a rifle because it was not manufactured for use in the rifle.

don't try to make sense of it, just enjoy a small taste of almost normal magazine limits

Hi Chamelion
I am a CFSC instructor in BC. Passing the course will not be a problem for you.

Memorize ACTS and Prove and use it EVERY TIME you pick up a firearm or put it down!

Control your muzzle direction - ALWAYS -

Keep your finger off the trigger - Always - except when putting the safety on on a lever gun

When loading a firearm, remember the 4 C's:

Close the Action
Cartridges in
Cycle the Action
Cafety on!

Works with all guns - if you can't get the cartridges in with the action closed - open it again!

Try it - let me know how you make out.

Oh, and if anyone wants to laugh at me I was with my Dad when he was sighting in a new scope on the weekend for his Remington 12 gauge (slugs). It was my first time firing a 12 gauge and gave myself a good case of scope bite. :p Smacked some sense in to me and I didn't even realize I was bleeding. Got back on the horse and shot some more.
