Born in Ontario, raised in N. Alberta, now living in Sunny Southern BC. I grew up with guns and hunting and except for a short stint during university and travelling have always hunted. Not to say I'm particularly good at it but I really enjoy getting out in the woods.
I hunt deer, grouse, turkey, rabbit, and hopefully this year elk(if I get my cow/calf draw). I will also be returning to waterfowling this fall after a 23 year break from it.
I also do a bit of trap shooting (also just started back up again after a 20+ hiatus) with my local club and one just across the line in the U.S. I manage to get to the range 2 or 3 times a month for some practice with my 270, 22, or the 12 gauge. My favourites.
So hello everybody, looking forward to taking part.

Welcome,also new to the east kootenay (3years). Born and raised in southern Ontario, moved here when I was 60 years old and am enjoying everey minute of it. Love to hunt camp and fish. Also shoot at the Cranbrook gun club range, 7mm, 22-250, 22, 308, 17hmr, have not shot whith shotgun since moving here.I used to shoot skeet and sporting clays, and a little trap at the Hamburg rod and gun in Hamburg New York before coming here. The hunting is great here although I have not tried ducks here I am sure there must be some places to hunt them here- shot lots of them and geese in Ontario too.
Regards;
Jim

Jim,

Have a look at the Windermere and District Rod and Gun club website and check it out if you are interested in shooting sporting clays.

The people that run the club are great. The shoots are semi formal. Very safe though.

They are having an Elmer Fudd shoot in May. 260 rabbits in 2 days.
